About the Hosts
Nicole Angemi, MS, PA (ASCP) has worked in the field of pathology for more than 20 years dissecting thousands of organs from surgeries and performing autopsies. Her training as a Pathologists’ Assistant has made her a specialist in the field of anatomy, pathology, and forensics. Nicole brought her love of pathology to Instagram over ten years ago under the name @mrs_angemi with the tagline: Wife. Mother. Human Dissector. Since then, she has acquired over two million like-minded individuals across her social media platforms.
In 2019, she created The Gross Room, a blog-based website that focuses on pathology, anatomy, medicine, and forensic education by using examples from high-profile and celebrity deaths. The graphic articles focus on “gross” pathology and how scientists use their training and education to diagnose disease and injury and determine a cause of death.
Her first book, Nicole Angemi’s Anatomy: A Catalog of Familiar, Rare, and Unusual Pathologies, was released in 2022. This Amazon Best Seller is a journey through all of the anatomical parts of the human body-and everything that can go wrong with it. In addition to pathology education, Nicole is happily married to Gabriel and they share three daughters Maria, Lillian, and Lucia.
Maria Q. Kane is a podcast host, producer, and writer for The Gross Room, a blog-based website that focuses on pathology, anatomy, medicine, and forensic education. After graduating from The University of the Arts, Maria used her photography degree to enter the world of fashion styling. She worked on various productions ranging from pharmaceutical advertisements to coordinating the costume department of a major motion picture.
In 2021, Maria earned a certificate in UX Design and joined The Gross Room, her family’s business, as a web designer, producer, and writer. She has become known for her writing contributions, including historical articles pertaining to medicine and famous crimes. In her free time, Maria loves watching reality TV, embroidering, and spending time with her husband, Ricky.
